As stupid as this may sound "Is your copy of XP valid?" If you had it installed at your local computer store or brought it used it might have not been a valid copy. Now with the geniune validation system used by Microsoft when you update your Windows its seeking out those bootlegged or illegit copys and shutting them down. If you actually purchased your XP from the store and have the codes and everything call up Microsoft and they will help you fix this.

Where do you get a legitimate copy of Windows XP key if it is pirated?

Sounds like you have an illegal copy of windows XP installed.
go to microsoft.com to have it checked out!
If it is a copy, I suggest you back up your important files and reinstall a genuine version of windows xp. You can buy it cheap from eBay.
Good luck!

It may have a key that is recognised as one that is pirated. If this is the case complain to wherever you got the PC or bought windows.

If it is pirated get a legitimate key.
