The original Omen, or the TV mini-series in the 80s the Holocaust
was scare because it was based on real events.. Had nightmares on that one for a long time.

Well I can't think of the scariest, but I did enjoy Ju On(The Japanese version of the Grudge) the best, really good.

The Haunting. the original, not that zeta jones cgi remake. what makes it scary is that it's more about what you don't see rather than what you do see. you're left to wonder what could be on the other side of that door, making that terrible noise? some other honorable mentions are the original texas chainsaw massacre and poltergeist - both films kind of become explorations into fear and panic towards the end, brilliantly executed.
