Or the feeling that it is a day it is not in fact? what causes this feeling?

This phenomena usually occurs when there is a minor disruption in the regular flow of the work week and/or weekend.

For example, a work holiday may disrupt ones perception of the day of the week because of a longer period of free time that necessarily ensues.
