What a joke. i thought her winning sports personality of the year was ludicrous. the horse does all the work what good has she ever done. Just goes to show that all these Honours awards are a total joke. dished up like fast food meal it would seem like anyone can get one. Who's next Jade Goody or perhaps Chantelle Houghton. Blimey.

I totally agree with you 100%, the standards of these so-called Honours awards are so naff that I think everybody should be called a Sir or Dame and these celebs (because that's all they are) should have the honour of being called by their names. Jade Goody hasn't achieved anything but manages to sell lots of glossy mags, that's why she is getting married because she can bag £100,000 from OK for the wedding photos - don't buy it! Oh and have you heard that Jorden and Pete Andrex are renewing their wedding wows - another £100,000 in the bank for them too.

Oh and just one other thing, anyone can ride a horse, especially if you have the best trainers in the world!

She is the world champion in her sport. OK, it's not football, cricket or athletics, but we don't have many world champions.

She's never going to have to work a day in her life, so she can devote her time to practice. Even so, you don't become world champion without some talent.

The horse does all the work? Put me on the bugger's back and see if we're a world championship combo.

I've no time for over privileged royals, but give the girl a bit of credit - she's achieved the top spot in her sport and if we don't honour our world champions, then who do we honour?

That said, the sooner we abolish the whole royal thing and make them get out and do a day's work, the better.

Zara Philips deserves every accolade. She has grasped every opportunity, and has worked very hard, to represent Great Britain in one of the only sports we still excel at. Eventing is a sport requiring guts and determination, it is not for the faint of heart or the weak of will. It is true that she has the pedigree to do the job, both her parents being top notch competitors in the same sport, but it still takes great skill to ride a horse, to inspire the horse to have the confidence in it's rider, to be able to complete an obedient dressage test, tackle a grueling cross country course, and be careful enough to produce a faultless show jumping round. I presume you have little knowledge of the sport.
I am proud of Zara, of her vast achievements within her chosen sport and the fact that she has the strength of character to achieve all that she has...

Oh and of Course David Beckham deserves his too. I mean what has he ever done - kicked a ball, whats so great about that?

You are an idiot. Get on a horse and win what she has and see how quick you ask for praise.

Dont slag her off just cause she is part of the royal family. You dont know anything about her at all. People always dislike things out of ignorance. Seems like you have it in abundance, as do most of the people who have commented on this.

I am making an assumption about you by what you have just said in the same way you have made an assumption about her, I wonder how accurate I am with that.....

I do believe she deserves it in what has been a shocking year for English, not British, sport but I also believe that if the BBC loses anymore coverage then the Sports Personality Of The Year will be the winner of the Greyhound Derby

She is european and world eventing champion. you dont get that through luck, it takes immense skill and a brilliant rider-horse bond. On the other hand she doesn't have a job so she has plenty of time to practise.

Overall, i think that she deserves the honour, if one ignores the fact she is the Queens granddaughter, her achievements for her age are rather good.
