If girls and women dressed more modestly, (no clevage showing, stomach, or butt) do you think that it would cut back on females getting raped? Flashing your sex parts to men is almost asking for it. What do you think?

No! I believe those men that rape women are pigs through and through. It's not only the provocative dressing women that get raped. Women fully dressed do too! Showing a small amount of cleavage or wearing shorts or short skirts that show your legs are an option women have to wear. They are not "come get me" clothes! And for men or women who judge women about showing a little bit a cleavage or leg, they need an eye opener!

What are you wearing in the dead middle of summer when it's over 30 degrees? Or what are you wearing when you go to the beach, or a club, a fancy party? Who's business is it of what you wear out? Your body is your body!!!! Plain and simple! No body whether you're wearing a bikini, a low cut shirt or a winter parka has any right to touch you in any way you don't want!

I think that it would make a difference because some women are really asking for it by going out with out much clothes on. I have a friend and she always flaunting something. She has a great body however she feels like showing it off too the world. When a man does approach her in a negative way she gets and attitude.

I show my stomach when it is necessary, like if I am going to the beach I would where a bikini or if I am working out I would wear a cut off shirt etc.

Regardless of what beliefs you hold to be true about clothing, no woman is ever "asking" to be raped. Or deserves it. Yes, some women choose to dress in a more provocative manner. But does that mean when they put on a lower cut shirt they were thinking, I will probably be raped. No.

As a women who dresses modestly for the majority of the time, and occasionally wears some more risky clothing, I see women who, no doubt, wear things they should not be either because it is not flattering or because it is just inappropriate. But that is the glory of America and freedom. You can do *pretty much* whatever you want.

Aside from that though, please seek out more information about rape, rape victims, and rapists. Understand that 90% of rapes are "familiar" rapes in which the rapist knows the victim. Further more, put yourself, your mother, or your sister in that position. Even if you were dressed like that...would you feel like you were asking for it?

Right place at right time is a huge deal, but bear in mind, things happen. Rape is about control and men tend to gravitate towards weaker women. This can come in the form of being vulnerable by alcohol or other substances or wearing provocative clothing because it may make them feel good or because they have low self esteem issues.

I sincerely hope you look into this. Best wishes and a happy new year!

Forgive me if I am wrong, but because everyone is around flashing people- showing skin is no longer unusual- and people get used to seeing half-naked women. Plus with all the availability (porn, women sleeping around), it isn't as hard to have sex. And the ways to track raping is much more sophisticated. I think the rape rate would be exactly the same, if not less, than in medieval times.
Even if women wore burkas and were completely covered, there would still be rape

I don't think so. Men should show restraint. Seeing a woman's cleverage or butt does not give anyone a right too rape her.
I think that a quick trial, and death would sto[p rapes. As a matter of fact not one dead rapist has ever raped again.

A womans body belonges to her, to dress it as she sees fit
How she dresses is not a liscense to rape her.
A rapist is an animal of the lowest kind who deserves no merch or consideration. There should be nothng less than the death penallity for them.. Please don't excuse their behavior with such rhetic.

Nope, women were raped back when women wore their dresses up to their chins and the hems covered their feet. Rape has nothing to do with sex. Rape is a crime based on overpowering someone "weaker" and controlling them. Even female soldiers have been raped while wearing camoflauge BDUs and their is NOTHING sexy or "revealing" about them

If that is what you believe, no differing answer will change your mind. But I am going to try to explain, whether you will listen or not. Maybe someone will understand and help you understand.

If all it took to stop rape was covering your body, then why do women in Muslim religions - those who cover themselves head to toe in what amounts to a bag with only their eyes partially showing -- WHY ARE THEY RAPED?!

Rape is a crime of violence. It will happen, and does happen to women who dress very modestly, too. It happens to bag ladies in rags! It happens to nuns in their habits, which also cover them head to toe! It happens to women who would never, ever, dress immodestly!

Rape happens to children, to old ladies. Any female is at risk of being raped.

Rape has NOTHING to do with how you dress. Rapist may believe they are justified by using the excuse "she tempted me".
Men will agree with that, and sorrowfully, many women will agree with that too.

Any judge who believes that excuse needs to be removed from the bench.

If dressing modestly prevented rape - there are many women who would never NEVER have suffered at the hands of a rapist.

Women have the right to dress how they wish. Dressing sexy DOES NOT CAUSE RAPE.

I'm sorry you have gotten this into your head. Try to remember, rape is perpetrated by violent men, men who want to beat and hurt women. Men who want to control women. Men who have no self control. This is not a crime of passion - it is a crime of violence. PERIOD!

If a man has his mind set on raping a woman, some extra skin showing isn't going to make a difference

Do you know something it does not matter if a woman/girl wears a shirt that shows clevage or her stomach that does not mean she is hollering at men saying look here come and rape me because look what i have on i am wanting to be raped.
I cannot believe you (your a girl/woman) and your saying all of this.

What makes anyone rape a little girl is it because of what she is wearing or a baby for that fact is it because the baby might not have a shirt on just a diaper does that mean that baby wants raped/molested?

If i wanted to walk outside with no shirt or bra on it dosen't mean i want raped. My god who would would to be raped?

You sound like a man. That is what rapiests say while on trial "well she was wearing this or that". That is to try to make the woman/girl look like a sl*t and like she was just begging to be raped and tortured.

You make no sense at all. It does not matter what you are wearing, if a sicko is wanting to rape someone do you think it matters to them what you are wearing?

Why are really old ladies raped? You seriously need to get real.

the only way to cut down on rape is for men to stop fantasizing about sex. i mean, women should dress how they feel comfortably, men get to dress how they want. rape will go down when men realize that women aren't playthings, that they are real and are to be treated with respect. hopefully that day will come.
