Do you know if you have both firewalls on -- Windows' and Norton's?
We all have to learn.
I had both on at first. One fought the other. I opted to leave Windows' firewall on because to my mind, Windows will load before Norton and I felt this was better protection.
Your choice -- Windows' or Norton's firewall.

Yes turn it off BUT only if you have a Nortons product with a firewall in it such as Nortons Internet Security and make sure you activate the Norton's firewall when you shut the other one off. Nortons 2007 Internet Security is the best on the market right now for protection.

I also get asked this question from Norton Symantec when I start up my computer, and I choose to have the windows firewall on because this is part of the windows security centre.
Note:
having two or more firewalls running at the same time can conflict with each other.
good luck and safe computing.

I only turn on Windows firewall and turn off anti virus firewall when it's update time for Windows or when I go for Windows Live OneCare online scanning. In the control panel's Security Center it warns against using two or more firewalls but not against more than one anti virus programs(I'm using 2 anti virus programs.)If you are using only one anti virus then it doesn't warn. You check and see for yourself... So if you prefer Norton's firewall, turn off Windows firewall.

If you have a norton firewall then you should.
Not a good idea to run two firewalls.
