Chicago has a very big acting community, and lots of theaters for live shows. You can see everything from big musicals (for example, Wicked and Oklahoma! are playing right now) to small, unknown plays. For Christmas, The Nutcracker, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, and A Christmas Carol play every year, and those are always a lot of fun to go see if you can manage to get tickets.
Here is a list of all musicals showing over the next few months: http://centerstage.net/theatre/shows/sty...
Dinner Theater is also really fun- I went to an interactive murder mystery play a few years ago and it was a blast. Here's what's playing:

Chicago is also very well known for its comedy clubs. The Chicago Improv Group puts on a show every year that is hilarious! And Second City is probably the most well-known theater in Chicago, besides the Chicago theater itself.
Hope that helps.

There are theaters in Chicago. The Oriental theater is doing Wicked right now. But no it's not an LA Beverly Hills type of theme. Chicago is famous because it's so old. The railroad system and for its airports which is one of the busiest in the nation. We are also famous for our pizza.

It does have several major theaters - Lookingglass, Victory Gardens, Steppenwolf, and Timeline among them. David Schwimmer (Ross on "Friends") was with Lookingglass and Gary Sinese ("Forrest Gump," "CSI") was with Steppenwolf. It's also particularly well known for comedy - many of the actors on Saturday Night Live and Mad TV came out of Second City, one of the big comedy theaters in Chicago. So yes, it's a big theater city, but it's probably not quite on par with New York.

Chicago is the "Comedy Capital". To my understanding it's very big in comedy & broadway sorta things. There are usually a couple places around the world where open calls are held... and Chicago is normally one of them. There are all kinds of open calls held daily. I'm moving there in March to try to become a comedic actress!

i know its big for singers. but for actors i know harrison ford is from a suburb there. and i can't think of any at the moment but i'm pretty sure there's more. the reason though that there is a lot of actors in nyc and la is because that's where the filming usually takes place so they move near it. oh yeah just thought of one more. vince vauhn and jenniffer aniston i think bought a house in dwayne, illinois (that's another suburb near chicago)

nicely you may't wish for a huge area ( I do it too ) because you should audition and there is no assure you receives the area. What i might want to do is keep focusing on your modeling occupation or perhaps as your agent sends you on an audition, then you truthfully extra effective do nicely as a results of the indisputable fact that area might want to be extra for your resume. Your resume is what stands proud to casting directors, so if its susceptible, you're literally unlikely to get a huge area, or possibly a area in any respect. you want extra adventure, even inspite of the indisputable fact that you look like you've plenty, and do extra performing. Then even as your agent sends you on the audition for a movie, you'll likely get it. wish I helped
