Legend of Zelda the wind waker help?

On the map i got in dragon roost cavern, i used my compass, and on the 3rd floor there is a skull. what does it mean?

When you get the compass it tells you where on the map the end boss for that dungeon is located (which can be handy but often it's rather obvious where the boss is located).

In the dragon roost though (if memory serves) you have to bypass the boss room and go outside to save your little winged friend and then come back into the dungeon to deal with the boss.

one of the cool things about zelda are the things that never change.

after you get a compass, a skull in a room on the map means the boss of the dungeon is in there

also, you always need the "big key" to get into the boss room.

the skull means there is a boss in that room and to get in to that room you need to find the boss key hiddne in that dungeon
