Can someone please give me a brief outline of where the basic elements of music sit on a graphic EQ (vocals, bass, cymbals etc.) . I've tried doing it by listening, but it's quite hard to do (or maybe i'm just rubbish :) ) The bands i have are:

31
62
125
250
500
1k
2k
4k
8k
16k

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

31 to 125 is low end,250 to2k is mid range,4 to 16k is upper range. Vocals are in midrange. Put them in a straight line two notches above the middle or center mark. Then try an arc. Then try an sine wave. You might have to turn your music down to hear the difference.

The best solution I can tell you since you don't have an ear for this is line up your knobs in the shape of a smile start from left to right and form a smile GOOD LUCK!
