Tell me some of the craziest old wives tales you've heard about pregnancy or predicting baby's gender?

I was told that since I was craving hot and spicy stuff that my baby would have a head full of hair. My son came out completely bald.
Just thought this would be fun to hear :)

btw- i did crave these hot spicy foods :)

if you have a baby girl, another girl (child) will not come towards you, same with boys.. they feel it is competition.

My MIL said that if your nose gets bigger, or spreads out, while you're pregnant, it's a boy. That's how she "knew" my second child would be a boy. And I craved sour foods and carried low - so, boy, right? Funny thing, though, it was a girl.

I read that shining a flashlight below your belly or putting a bag of cold peas on the top of your belly will get a baby to turn head down.

Here's more - if you can't tell someone is pregnant by looking at them from behind, they're going to have a girl. And if you have really bad morning sickness, it's a girl. Or, if you get really ugly (skin breaks out, hair thins, etc) it's a girl because "She's stealing all your pretty."

If you're stressed out during the pregnancy, you're going to have a hyper child. If you name a boy Zack, he'll be hyper. A baby who doesn't move much in the womb will be a mellow child - which is a total lie. My first girl hardly ever moved, but she hasn't stopped moving since she came out!!

To check the babies gender - hold a ring with a thread through steady over the pregnant woman's belly. If the ring moves in a circular direction it is a girl and if it moves vertically or horizontally it is a boy.

I hope I remember it correctly about which way it is to move.

People still believe these:
--If you have lots of heartburn, the baby will have lots of hair (heartburn is common in ALL pregnancies because the baby pushes on your stomach)
--A faster heart rate means a girl, while a slower one means a boy (A baby's heart rate slows as it gets nearer to the due date)
--If you carry the baby all out front, it's a boy
--If you carry the baby all out front, it's a girl (you see the problem with this one)
--If the baby moves a lot, it's a boy
--Don't raise your arms about your head, or the baby will get the cord around its neck
--If you want to turn your breech baby, stand on your head

When I was at a children's hospital with my 2 daughters, an older chinese woman told me this one; that if a baby has 2 lines by their kneecap, the next baby will be a girl and if there is 1 line, next baby will be a boy.

here's a good one. Take a sewing needle and put some thread in it...someone hangs the needle over the woman's open hand (palm side) if the needle swings back and forth it's a boy...if it goes in a circular motion it's a girl. Hang the needle about an inch over the new mommies palm.

I heard if I conceived with my head to the north it would be a boy and to the south a girl.. NOT!! Also heard if you pee in a jar and Drano to it if it turned blue it was a boy and pink a girl.. NOT. Craziness I tell ya

The whole idea of how "high" or how "low" you carry your child being related to the sex of the child (lower meaning male). That people believe that one surprises me the most.
