I don't think people realize this, I think it's been cleverly disguised. For example, speeding laws. On the surface, going fast increases chances of a crash being fatal, so therefore we deter speeders by giving them fines to pay. But if you think about it...the speeder committed a victimless crime, didn't cause any property damage, or any damage to anyone at all. And yet he gets shot for speeding. Not right away, mind you .... first he gets a fine. If he ignores it, he gets a letter politely reminding him to pay. If he refuses, he gets a more stern letter. If he refuses again, he gets a warrant. And so things get to escalate; the basic principle is, "we're the government, and you are our subject. if you don't agree with what we say, we kill you."
But then, it's all disguised so nicely that people don't realize what's really happening.

Most Americans would never want to see anyone get killed. you see a lot of extreme remarks on here that are not indicative of the population as a whole. Thank God.

It would seem that people are led by example rather that being disuaded by example. If you can beat people low enough they will not care about themselves or others. When the state kills and the blood-thirsty cheer it becomes okay to murder.

THis is a very stereotyped question. No ordinary Americal likes death, but unfortunately the crime rates in our largest cities are very high. Credit drugs, gangs, and lousy parenting, but please don't assume Americans love violence. Whatever social problems most other countries have, we just have in larger amounts.

We do not. If you are trying to talk about Saddam, then wouldnt your country hang him after him being responsible for millions of bloody deaths of innocent civillians?
