For instance, if someone continues employment after they have mastered all aspects of their and everyone elses job and chooses to stay where they are, while complaining of how bored and tired they are of redundant tasks. Do you think they are afraid of challenge, change or just lazy?

if the person is young, they are most likely afraid of change.if the person is over 50,they are afraid no one else will hire them because of their age.even tho they have gr8 experience, employers will find some excuse not to hire them-the bottom line is,with their gr8er experience, they would need and expect a decent salary, especially if they support a family.but an employer can hire people just out of college for much less pay,as they are e ager to gain entree into their chosen fields, and thus will often accept less cash.or maybe the persons job is near their house, and finding another job would lead to a daunting,traffic-filled commute that they would rather avoid.thats not laziness, thats called reducing stress, and its necessary especially if u have ur choice between battling traffic for hours each day,or being home to actually see/interact with ur kids/spouse/friends.that commute can mean the difference between merely existing and having a life! do u want to get home at 5:30.or 7:30--it may hinge on work/home proximity.

If they have mastered all aspects of the job then they are probably not afraid of challenge. They may realize that they are not able to advance beyond their current position or they may simply have attained an income level that meets all their needs, allows them to pursue interests outside the job and will provide a satisfactory income at retirement.

Hardly -- at least if they're truly content! And if they're complaining of boredom then they're clearly NOT content.
