I was thinking it might be because of the lack of oxygen, but surely there are rules the LU have to follow with regards to ventilation.

It might get a bit stuffy at times - but I don't think suffocation is a problem. It's probably the warmth, the motion and the boredom that are making you sleepy!

Its def the mononitmy and boredom, plus coming back in the evenings is worst as it gets very warm even when its freezing outside. I agree with the above answerer, when I have a cold and am travelling on the tube I feel worst then before I got on. Maybe all those horrible little germs just floating around

Actually I used to notice that if I had a cold I felt much worse when I was on the tube.

It is warm and the rushing dark and flashing on the walls as the train runs through the tunnels is very hypnotic. You would make a great stage hypnotists subject!!

It's caused by the rocking motion - also the foul stench of body odour during the summer
