I'm Not going out Clubbing on New years eve...
Infact, i'm not going out at all ; a 42 year old single mother of 5 children.... I did all that Clubbing, when i was much younger, before i had kids.
To those, who are young and want a good night out, will indeed go out night-clubbing.
When i was younger, my parents friends had organized New Years Eve parties and it was great fun, for the adults and the children... the adults got merry, but there was no fighting or aggression.
When the Big Ben tolled the New Year in, we all crossed arms and in a huge linked ring, we sang au lang syne and then made a long train and did the conga, out of the house around the streets and joined other parties, doing the same thing...
It was great fun, back in the 1970s LOL

For the first time since I've been old enough to go out and drink I'm staying in on new years eve.
Partly due to being up to my neck in bills and then what money I did have left (and some more) was spent on the rest of the family for some really nice christmas presents as they've had a bit of a tough year.
I thought why waste loads of money going out, getting drunk, snog some random woman and feel like crap in the morning (maybe laying next to that random woman). I don't need it to be new years eve to go and do all of that, I can do exactly the same thing on any of the other 51 weekends.

i have free entry at the club as my friend is a bouncer and i am get well drunk before i go out so i wont need to drink.
my boyfriend doesnt live far from town so we are walking to and staying at his.
i have never payed high taxi prices home on new years eve.
i found that if i ring round local companys in the afternoon asking about the fairs and book a couple for a certain time then they dont usually charge double as i have prebooked.

Reluctantly I will be going out but because I'm a popular (though penniless) chap a friend has bought me a ticket to a pretty cool night at a very local nightclub, another friend will be supplying the "powders and potions" and yet others will keep me topped up on booze. We'll all meet at the local bar so everything's in walking distance. At the end of the night/daybreak, it's all back to mine...

celebrating new years eve is absurd. Why would I want to celebrate a day on a calendar in the coldest month of the year? I don't give a crap what year it is, and I sure don't like winter. I can go out any Saturday night to have fun. I think most of the idiots who go crazy that night feel they have to because "everybody else is doing it." I'll just go out in a couple days to drink, look at girls and try to forget how much I hate winter in the midwest.

I can't justify the expense. I can afford it, but I have chosen not to.
It never turns out to be an awesome night anyway. People are trying too hard for a good night - so its doomed from the start. The best nights out are when you don't plan them - they just fall into place.
I'll be quite happy with a bottle of wine, a dvd and a full wallet.
Have a good one :-)

Yup, I'm going out to a $350/person dinner dance. It's worth it since it's only once per year. You just have to realize that the crowds will be out and the cost will be doubled. If you can get over that, you're golden!

No, I am not going out this New Years.
The firecrackers that are set off upset my dog -so he has to have someone stay with him.
There have been too many fatal accidents on the freeway this year so I am staying home because of that as well.
Please don't drink and drive.
Even one drink is one drink too many.
They said a first time DUI will cost the person $5,000-10,000.

Nope, I'm going to be in all on my own :-( I couldn't get a bambino sitter, but kinda glad in a way, you're right about the price of things on new years eve, but I also think that it is worth celebrating the end of one year and the start of a new one :-) x

I am going out, but won't being going to a club because of the price but more cause they are packed and you can hardly move, can't really enjoy yourself. Taxi's don't usually charge double where i live, usually normal rate but we'll give them a bit of a tip
