when painting or doing some sort of art like well painting or pottery. can wear one when your cleaning or taking care of kids or whn you dont want your top to get dirty you can where one.

Why is there so much "talk" about aprons both pro and con. I usually wear an apron most days, when doing housework, cooking etc. To me an apron is like a coat or hat you just wear it when you want/need to. Having read some apron related topics here, I notice some "special interest" discussions forming, but for me an apron is an apron and it doesn't do anything more than keep me clean and depending on the style look good. As for aprons being "old fashioned", cooking & cleaning hasn't changed that much, oil still splatters and detergents and cleaners can stain so I would rather mess up an apron than my clothes anyday. I may be in the minority but I don't have or like to wear anything I would be not comfortable wearing when opening the door to a stranger, hence I treat my aprons more as part of my wardrobe that a kitchen linen.

I ONLY WEAR AN APRON WHEN I'M COOKING BUT SOME PEOPLE WEAR ONE WHEN THERE ARE PAINTING SO THE DON'T GET IT ALL OVER THERE CLOTHES BUT I GUESS YOU CAN WEAR IT ALL THE TIME GUESS DON'T GO TO THE MALL WITH THE APRON ON BEACUSE PEOPLE WILL TALK ABOUT U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even wear one cooking but I guess you could use one for crafts like painting, pottery, etc.

My live in housekeeper used to wear one, but we told her to dress normal. Maids and things do.

maybe when you're doing other housework? i usually just have spare sets of gross clothes to wear when im doing dirtier chores though...like renovating or w/e
