which laptops do newsreaders use? Which laptops do Americans use?

I use both PC and Macs, but I have to say that if you plan to use the internet alot then I strongly recommend using a PC.
The latest Safari (macs internet explorer) in Tiger OS (and possibly the previous OS on Macs) have an issue with displaying text on screen. Rather than displaying true clear font they actualy display a blurry version of the text for some strange reason. The apple staff says all macs display their text this way! I even purchased a Mac Mini after my original purchase of my Mac Book, thinking it was a fault with the mac book. But no, both have unclear text in internet browsing, which makes my eyes sqint after a few mins of reading fine text. Sure you can enlarge and play around with the font, but this does not clear up their displaying issue.
I have even gone to their flagship store in London and all their display machines have the same issue.
So bottom line is if you are going to listen to music and store / edit photos = yes, get a mac, as it's meant to be more reliable.
If you want the above and be able to use the net and type letters clearly = get a PC!
Go to a computer store near you which has Mac's and see for yourself!
Good luck!

It really depends on what you are going to do with it. First of all, let me first say that I've used (and have) Mac and PC, so I know the benefits and cons of both systems. The good news is that if I were to tell you to get a PC, HP is one I would recommend (don't get a Sony, Gateway, or Dell), although Toshiba is good (little overpriced though, but not much). Macs are overpriced obviously, but they definitely have their own share of cool features that PC's cannot do. Here are some basic factors in deciding between the two: 1) What are you willing to spend/budget? (If it is not $800 dollars or more, Mac is just not going to happen, although it is possible to get a refurbished mac for that price.) 2) Do you own other Apple products like the iPad, iPhone-if so a Mac syncs very well with these devices. 3) If you already have software, is it Mac or PC software. If you switch platforms, all that software will no longer work. 4) What are going to do? Are you interested in Graphic Design (therefore a Mac is better) or are you just going to edit documents etc (a PC is better). Please note that a PC can do graphics, but if you are going to do it in college, most colleges use Macs as their default graphic computers. I would recommend getting a Mac if you can afford. They are pretty neat and I think the OS X software is easier to use than Windows, but you should go over all these suggestions above to make your decision. Something cool about the Mac that I should point out though. The Mac has something called Boot Camp that can split your hard drive so you can run both systems on one computer at separate times; so it one computer that can act like several. You can not do this with a PC.

My wife has a Windows XP, and I have always had a mac and now it is an OS X 10.4.8, and it seems to be part of my way of thinking.

Everything about the Apple Computer seems so logical that I never
even took a course, nor even ever had to call in help when it jams,
because it never has. When something minor goes wrong, I read
the instructions, and do it myself. This is not the case with the XP,
but perhaps this is my fault since I expect Apple Performance from
it, and it is entirely different. The laptops are the same systems as
the PCs. Only as a curiosity, all my applications are genuine Apple
certified, with one exception, since the first version of Firefox (1.0)
I have used this product which has all of Apple‘s logic, to the extent
that I have always taken on the trial (RC versions) for testing, and they are better than Safari, which is not to say that Safari is a bad
browser, I only seem to get along better with Firefox which, to me,
seems a better fit to Apple‘s logic. That‘s it, if you can pay a little
more, always buy an Apple. PS I am not an Apple salesman, only
answering your question.

I don't know what newsreaders use, but I just recently got a mac laptop and it's amazing. I used to have a PC but it crashed frequently. Macs are more dependable and do not get viruses.

Is a Ford better than a Chevy? They're both automobiles, and likewise the Mac and PC are both personal computers. Americans use laptops manufactured by every laptop manufacturer in the world, but I would say predominantly Intel and AMD CPU powered motherboards running the Microsoft Windows operating system. Mac Unix, Unix and Linux are probably all lumped into a close tie for second place after MS Windows.

Usually when you see a laptop used on tv, for some reason it will be an apple laptop or desktop, i think that it is apple over microsoft because the apples are nicer looking and more compact.
I dont really like the apple computers, they are difficult to use.
My mum bought an apple laptop about 2 years ago and everybody in our family has found it annoying to use, it might be because we all learnt on the windows system but despite that, i would choose a Windows computer over Apple anyday. When my mum upgrades her laptop she is getting a microsoft/windows computer.

Most people use PC's since Apple has about 5% of the market, their laptops however get very good reviews and appear to be high quality.

There's no question that Apple laptops are better. You can run OS X (the worlds best operating system) and if you have an Intel based Mac you can even run Windows too, should you need to.

Umm... NO!
(It depends on your opinion. Windows is more widely used all over the world than Mac. I use a Windows. My friends use Windows. My school, unfortunately, uses Mac, and they crash every ten minutes. I have one friend who uses a Mac, and another who got one just so he could do a school project (waste of money). If I were you, get a PC).
