Video recording has been around for a long time as far as the tv companies Esp.b(bc) are concerned. However the first domestic video recorders/players were introduced in about 1976/77. I had one of the first from Radio rentals!

If you mean a VHS tape (also called a video tape), then they were invented in 1976, and introduced by Panasonic and JVC.

If you mean a still/moving video camera, then they were introduced in 1981.

I remember seeing the beatles perform via video tape on the
"Ed Sullivan Show"around 1970.

I worked for a company who made a domestic recorder in 1965.This model used audio tape and was run at high speed.
