yes it is perfectly fine to have music on while you are doing homework because it actually relaxes your mind and helps you concentrater better but to be successful with this you might want to choose a softer type of music until you are finished with homework cause loud rock/rap type music is not very soothing and relaxing for a mind full of homework so go for more classical stuff!!!!!! Hope this helps you out!!!!

There have actually been quite a few studies done on the effect of music on studying--specifically memorization tasks and logical reasoning tasks. Listening to classical music has been almost conclusively linked to increased learning, hence spawning a whole industry of record companies making CDs with titles such as "Bach for Babies" and "Classical for your Mind." Non-classical music is a little harder to classify as to the effects on studying. Typically, soft rock, jazz, or fast rhythmic songs increase productivity and efficiency. However, easily discernible lyrics often distract the worker and the language areas of the brain, significantly decreasing comprehension of language-related tasks. However, highly logical tasks are not severely affected by this music. The bottom line is to usually find songs you don't listen to often (and hence don't know the lyrics), or classical, and don't turn it up too loudly.

not music with words. it's too tempting to sing along. i think classical music, but anything that's a little distracting is probably a bad idea.
