I am thinking about trying to become a CPA and wanted to know what they make. I have 150 hours and a degree in Accounting. I need to work for a year under a licensed CPA. I am just wondering what others know.

One lady I know had some clients, but wanted to get out. She was able to get a job offer of 200k a year. I believe she was offered this because she was experienced and very good at what she did.

Any ideas and input would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Here are a couple sources of data:
- at my company we tend to hire in experienced CPAs at ~110-125k (2-4 years) - I also work in Silicon Valley, so I know that plays a role in it.
- here's another site that should help - this site allows you to figure out salary of CPAs - initial chart is based more on location - ie. Ney York CPAs median salary is $75k, while $55-60k is more representative of other areas. But you can narrow your search more by adding in additional parameters: http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Certified_Public_Accountant_(CPA)/Salary

Also realize that after awhile, years of experience are not going to be as important as skill. If you're good, you'll be making a lot of money in no time.

Good luck!

Depends upon the area you live in. It could be anywhere from $40K to $80K as an associate. Of course the big money comes when you become a partner.
