It's most common tAquatic turtles live for 10-15 years, but they can also live up to 35 years if cared for properly.
Having a pet turtle is a big responsiblity, they need certain types of lighting, a big tank, a filtration system, etc....some people don't realize that a turtle needs more care than just feeding it everday.

A healthy, well-cared for aquatic turtle can live 20-60 years. I know of one red-eared slider in Maryland that is 68 years old, but that's likely the record.

If your aquatic turtle is properly taken care of there normal captive life span normally exceeds 15 years. The need a large enough tank tp perfprm there every day activity's. UVB lighting, Filteration, Air Pumps. Haul out erea with heat lamps. I have a very large 125 gallon tank that is set up for my red eared sliders. I can send pictures but you need to contact me so I can send them to you.

Some extreme examples run 60-70 years, depending on the species.
Most keepers do well at about 20 years.
Sadly, the typical pet turtle will die in about 3 to 18 months in a cold, tiny, dirty tank with the wrong kind of food in it.
