His doctor told me nothing he can do till he gets it but I read online otherwise Well now its been 6 days and I'm still worried. He isn't acting sick in any way just sleeping alot. But I dont know if that just because he's fixing to go through a growth spur or what. Please help. What to look for?? I'm a new mom and don't know much about babys. Did he break out all over? Measles is highly contagious, so keep your baby away from your nephew. If he hasn't broken out yet, I think it's safe to say he isn't going to get it, as long as you keep him away from your nephew, including yourself or anyone who hasn't been vaccinated for it. Just keep an eye on him. The break out will start from the head and work it's way out. It would itch, too. My one year old just got vaccinated for measles and had a reaction to it- like a mild version of measles. Hers cleared up in a few days though. Hope I helped!

Odds are, if he does get measles, he may not break out in the spots, not everyone does. If he is breastfed he may never show any symptoms at all- just sleep a lot. Measles is not the scary disease that doctors these days make it out to be. It used to be just one of those things that every kid got, like chickenpox in our generation. The good news is that a child who contracts measles naturally is immune for life afterwards (the vaccine only gives partial immunity for a couple years- hence all the booster shots).
