Do you mean the background in Macbeth??
Or are you looking for some 'inner motivation' stuff for PLAYING Ross.
Are you just trying to get us to do your homework for you?
Basically Ross comes across as everyones lackey - the messenger-boy. Maybe not quite as bad as Lennox - but, hey, it is all in degrees, no?
He shows some thought that the story of Duncan's murder at the hands of the grooms is clearly wrong, and even saw and heard 'portents' in the sky and watched Duncan's horses go mad and eat each other (???) on the night of the murder but did absolutely nothing about it. You need to think about why that might be. Is he 'keeping to his social place'? Or is he a coward, taking the easiest path?
He is sometimes blamed for the murder of Lady Macduff as he is in Macduff's castle moments before the murders appear. But that is probably more down to a playwright's need to keep things moving along than the playwirght's intent for the character. But what does he say to Lady Macduff? Look at the content of his words - look for deeper meanings... are there any?
His 'big moment' really comes toward the end of the play when he goes to England to tell Macduff of the state of play back home. He lies to Macduff about his family at first, only later admitting that Macduff's wife, children and servants are all murdered at Macbeth's hand. This gives a 'human' angle to work on when playing him. He is hesitant to be the bearer of such bad tidings. Why? What causes him to lie?
He has gone to England to join the 'rebels' cause - finally turning against Macbeth. What causes that final departure from Scotland? If you think on that you will have another angle on the character. What happens in the final scene with Ross and Macbeth (The banquet)?

It's actually a pretty good play; you ought to give it a read sometime.
