Hey Dude,

Not enough info!

What OS? I can only assume window 95a or 95. Windows 95a only supported Fat 16 hard drive space. You then are limited to 2048 KB partitions. If you upgrade to windows 95b or later, you can convert that fat16 to Fat32 and use all 40 GB.

Now, will you bios support it? Probably, but maybe not. You may have to find a bios upgrade. Boot the system to the bios screen. See what it thinks is installed. If it says the capacity is 40GB or 40000MB, you are good. If not, start-a-looking for a bios upgrade.

Okay, if you are on an advanced OS with an OK bios, you need to repartition you hard drive. Easier said than done. You really need to start over or purchase a product from Symantec called Partition Magic, or something from Acronis that will do the same thing.

If this pc is not of value, start over. You will have to FDISK the partitions and then set it to Y for allowing you to use the MAXIMUM amount.

If you need more info, email me. But I will expect a "Best answer"

You have the partition created smaller. you suppose to have UN allocated space so use partition magic soft ware and re size the partition and make it bigger.
