Ninja had the right idea, but he didn't simplify.

2L² = 45
L² = 45/2 = 90/4
L = ±√90/2 = ±3√10/2

2L^2 = 45
L^2 = 45/2
L = +/- sqrt(45/2)

45=2L^2
2l^2-45=0
2(l^2-22.5)=0
(l-√22.5)(l+√22.5
l=√22.5, -√22.5 or
l=15√.1, -15√.1
