I cannot understand how so many people are condemning the execution of Saddam Hussein. This man is directly responsible for the deaths of over 1 million people. Surely if anyone deserves the death penalty it's this man. I understand if you oppose the death penalty no matter the circumstances but many of you do support capital punishment and still oppose its use on Saddam. Why?
I believe the main reason is because of one of two factors, either you are so opposed to the war in Iraq that you cannot support any positive developments or Stalin was right and because you cannot connect a face or narrative to Saddam's crimes they are meaningless to you. I believe that many people saw the images of a disheveled looking Saddam after his capture and felt more sympathy for him then his victims because they could connect Saddam's face to suffering better then his victims.

I feel sick to my stomach over the whole thing. Saddam was a horrible wretched man, but I feel like we're stooping to his level in killing him. I think America should stand for higher moral principles than this. I don't think the world would have been worse off if we had just let him rot in jail, or let him be tried in the international court of justice in the Hague like that jerk Milosevic. Why not just go out & kill all the other tyrants & bada**es and warlords? What kind of world would we have? Would the killing EVER stop? This whole thing reminds me of Dodge City justice. I see the kind of thinking behind this and realize that yes, another type of Holocaust calamity could one day affect people like you and I.

That was beautifully put. I never felt sorry for that murderer. I don't care if he looked like my great grandpa. I bet if the same people who are against his punishment had their whole family slaughtered (immediate and remote) by Saddam, they would pay to put the noose around his neck.

There are plenty of other dictators in this world. Let's go after them. There are many in sub Sahara Africa that need to be hanged. They've killed millions. In Chad, Ivory Coast, Sudan, total about four million. And then there was the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, three million people killed there. In Chile, Pinochet killed plenty. In Bosnia, plenty were murdered there too. Let's kill them all. Or let's not get involved in other countries' problems.If we do get involved let's get involved in sub Sahara Africa, plenty of innocent people get slaughtered over there. It would be the right thing for us to do.

My thought is that Hussein has been executed by Bush and his puppets to show the world that cruelty is the way USA solve the problems in the world. It would have been very nice to see the president of the United States hanging for the crimes made in Japan with the Atomic Bomb.

yep stalin was right thats why not just Saddam should be hanged but many ...many people...who had their hands in others peoples blood just to get a bit of power....maybe this is a good starting point for all the people to stand up and get rid of politicians...or dictators...i wish for this to happen!...

get your fact straight, you have to admit that the timing was big mistake, you don' t have to like to hate Saddam, simply it is not about him, we all know what kind of a man he is, ask Ramsfield he knows him better, also Saddam like you said is responsible for the death of millions of people, sadly his trail was only for 150 people. what about other crimes that he committed against Iran when we the US were supplying him with all kinds of weapons.
