You need a wireless router (also known as an access point) and a wireless card for the laptop if it doesn't already have one.
Assuming your PC is already connected to a broadband connection (cable/dsl), the router would be connected to the modem and to your computer.
Most routers come with good instructions for setting things up and it's fairly easy to do.

A wireless router and a wireless access point are NOT the same thing. An access point does no routing.
The best thing to do if you don't want to get into a complicated set up (like trying to figure out which device is supplying DHCP), then you should buy a wireless package from your internet service provider (whomever you get your internet connection from). They usually have an automated set up process. This will not be the cheapest way to go, but will be the easiest.

First off you need a cable or DSL high speed ISP(internet provider) next you need a wireless router and a short cat5 cable to run from the high speed modem to the router. But before doing this you must be sure that your computer is capable of wireless connectivity - so they should have a wireless cards installed - if they do not then you must buy wireless cards for them and install them. Once you have everything ready to go it will take about a half hour to get everything working. That includes the installation of the wireless cards in your computers.
