If one is truly a feminist don't they feel that a society that forbids men to hit women is making women seem weak and unable to defend themselves? What are your opinions?

What I mean is if a society weakens a woman's social stature to the point that they have to be defended by something like restriction of men hitting a woman, doesn't it kinda insults females and says that they are not equal?

I think you'll find that most will suggest that it's not acceptable for either the man or the woman to hit the other. Your question is an interesting one, as I see the aspect from which you're viewing the mentality, but I have a very simple maxim in regards to violence between men and women:
Men shouldn't hit women. However, if a woman throws the first swipe, then she gets what's coming to her.

never ok for a man to hit a woman, even if it is in self defense. I was brought up to blocking a womans punch if possible but trying to control my temper, which is hard I am a very hot headed German and at times I want to just put anyone I don't care what sex they are through the wall but so far I have been able to control my temper and I am 49 yrs old. Besides are alot of women really that feminine? Not! Hell I would be afraid to meet up with some of them in a dark alley.

ummm no hitting a woman is not ok is this a question that needs to be asked....? but at the same time i dont think women should hitmen if there be no cause like if the man is violent with you then maybe...but then you should divorce him and get rid of him!
but trust me women have many effective ways of defending themselves!

there is a difference between slapping a woman once and sending her to the hospital. Anyway it's all about been a gentleman and stuff, even though women want to have the same rights as men, when it comes to violence they appear to be weaker and have the law on their side. to be honest i am not a lawyer and i don't know exactly how the law works, it basically depends on the country you live but in most cases it's the same

Well, as I'm a bit of a pacifist, I don't think hitting anyone is right. However, if I was violent enough to hit a man, I would not expect him to refuse to defend himself anymore than I would not defend myself if someone (male or female) hit me first.

It's not okay for anyone to hit anyone! To have to strike someone to get your point across just shows that you have no mastery of language and should not be allowed to mix with the rest of the humans!

get real. It is never "ok" for anybody to hit anybody. Doesn't matter if your man, woman, child or an animal. violence of any kind is not tolerated in any type of moral society,.

I consider myself a feminist and also someone that thinks it is never ok for a man to hit a woman. Men are physically naturally stronger then women. How is that anywhere near a fair fight? A real man would never hit a woman.
