No..you don't need the itunes installation cd in order to put music on it..just go to www.apple.com and download Itunes for free..just make sure you get the right version..either for a mac or a windows xp...and then from there you'll b able to set up itunes to your ipod and put music on to it...if it's a 4GB nano..you have room for 1,000 songs..and if you get a 2GB nano..you'll have room for 500 songs!!..have fun!!

the installation disk just includes the normal version of itunes. Go to itunes.com and download it. Once you have itunes installed your nano will work perfectly.

The install disc has itunes on it. Download the program at apple.com and plug in the ipod and then you can synch the music on the ipod with the music on your computer with that program

If you have a decent computer, Itunes automatically pops up when you plug it in. It will recognize the new hardware.
