My husband has visitation today. I took my son over to his mom and dads house. When I was over there matt's family started in on me. I took Nathan home and now the sherriffs department says I am in contempt of the court order. What do I do.

tell the deputy that you felt it was a bad enviroment to leave your son in and why you feel that way. go to court if you are summoned to appear over contempt. document and state your reasons why you felt it was not a good enviroment to leave your child in. unless the order says you are to drop your son off at his grandparents,it is not contempt. if the court decides you are guilty of contempt and it is your first time, they will just tell you not to do it again.

When the court gives an order, it is not up to you to decide if it is right or wrong. You are still bound by that order. By not leaving the child, you are in contempt of court.

When the parents started in, you should have politely informed them when you would return for the child, and walked out the door.

The only thing that will change the court order, is another court order. If you feel the grandparents are a danger to the child, and it is not court ordered to take the child to them for the visitations, set up another relative, or friend to make the transfer.

Other then that, the alternative it so go back to court.

They are correct. You should have left the child there if that was the agreed to place for exchanging the child. A possession order is a court, or judge's, order. They must be followed. If you do not follow them, technically you can be held in contempt of court for not following the orders. Since you left with the child, you are at fault(legally).
