I assume you already checked with the bank where your father's personal bank account was located. If they cannot identify it by the type of key, I wonder if you can't just check the three or four or five banks closest to where your father normally did business, and the four or five closest to where you live.

After that, I'm afraid I'd be calling my friend the private investigator. You might also ask the clerk at the court where your father's will is probated what is the usual thing in such a case. Of course, if there is an attorney hiring the estate, you just turn it over to him.

You need to find out which company issued those keys. Sometimes there are small markings on these keys or you can search your dad's things for a receipt. that will give you a clue.
