Bathe him seperately, and teach him how to do so. As the teacher, you'll know when he is ready to shower all by himself. The first few times, you could supervise him a bit by going to see him every now and then when he's having a bath. Then you stop completely!

Is this for safety or social appropriateness? You determine when you don't feel comfortable showering with your son (I would think no older than early elementary school). But a baby can have its own bath at any age. Even a newborn baby can bathe in its own tub. You're the dad though so you decide!

depends on when the child begins to recognize body parts...i used to hand my daughter to her father in the shower sometimes to u know speed up getting everyone cleaned, dressed and out the door but when he put her down to wash her up, stood up and his thing hit her in the forehead and she grabbed and pulled at it that was it for us!!! Almost the same thing for my son I didn't breast fed but when he started to grab and be curious it ended as well. I believe they were between 1-2 years old

You can stop it when you guys don't fit in the shower together.
When the fun is gone.
Because you shower with your child doesn't mean you do it naked, right? Otherwise you will have to stop doing it right away, so he doesn't have time to ask anything.
You can still shower or bath-tub with him while you are conscious to respect him and teach him good manner and respect.

I made my son stop when he turned 3. That's when he started asking questions about my body. Before then he never seemed to pay any attention.

I'm thinking now, since you're already considering it to be a questionable idea. It's time to get him his own 'shower kit', show him the ropes (so to speak) and let him shower by himself.
Just be within earshot in case he has any problems.

Your son should never shower with you, unless perhaps he's an infant. But once they are old enough to sit up, they should be given bathes seperately.
