LOL! Why do you feel you absolutley must wear a Pentagram in Africa? It's not mandatory, and flaunting your pentagram only serves to violate the law of secrecy of the "Witches Pyramid" (To Know, To Will, To Dare, TO KEEP SILENT).

Wicca isn't widely known in that part of the world yet. The "witchcraft" you've read about Africans fear simply means "sorcery" (not Wicca), and modern accounts of people being killed as witches in African countries often times have more mundane reasons, such as merchants accusing a competitor of witchcraft to drive them out of business.

So you can wear your Pentagram without cause for alarm...of course when you don't get the negative attention you actually crave, I'm sure you'll "accidentally" blurt out you're a witch in Swahilli.

And isn't your Pentagram supposed to be FOR PROTECTION ANYWAY???

If you seek persecution, just wear a cross in either of those countries. Christians are persecuted there everyday.

I haven't really ever heard mmy parents (tho they arent from Uganda or Rwanda) ever talk of there witchcraft in Africa. (Tho my mother once said that her exact fortune was told by some guy) I'd say just don't wear it, even tho I doubt they even know what Wiccans are.

Isn't the pentagram supposed to be a symbol for goodluuck anyway...

I'd advise you wear it very discretely.

There is no such thing as 'state-sponsored religion'.
However, you are traveling to very backwards and not-so-nice area.

Do not wear anything openly that might show affiliation to anything.
Get there, and ask someone you trust when you are already there.

Trust me.
The Pentagram is no defense for a 7.62mm at point blank range.
I am not saying you're gonna get shot.
But I am also not saying you are in America either.

It is not so much 'witchcraft' that they despise.
But you are dangerously close to Darfur and Chad where being Christian or Muslim is grounds to execute you.

Turn the ring upside down if you insist on wearing it.
Personally....."dress down"

Most of us Africans are against witchcraft stuffs.Since you are new to the region take it off so that people might be opened to help you in case you need one.We believe in the existence of supernatural powers and it scares most of us.if you put your necklace and ring on,no one will offer you help if you need one because that will be scaring people.Keep it in your luggage if you still want to take it along. In some communities in Africa, witches are ostracized (shun or banished). To be on the safer side, don't wear it.

Any jewellery, watches, cameras, purses, handbags etc are liable to get snatched. It does not matter what they are except they are seen as currency by the poor majority population.

Do not show any kind of allegiance to anything that could mark you out as against the "whoever is king in the area"

Wouldn't wear any obvious jewlery whilst i was there, including expensive watches. Im currently in Luwanda, Angola and that was the advice given to me before coming here...

I would not take that chance or wear it under something and forget the ring. Bon voyage

Your've answered your own question. If they're against witchcraft, why chance it ? you could get into bother, is it worth it?

and do you think they give a sh it what you are wearing round your neck.

I would imagine they do not know anything about Wicca, and care even less. They are just like Europe in that regard.

They might think you are a little cranky, and desperate for attention. Once again, just like the rest of us in the civilised world.
