there a bunch of programs that enable you to do that.,... i use one that is called Roxio DigitalMedia Copy. If ure tryin to copy a dvd movie, it has a restrction on it that stops you from making copies... but ypu can use a program called PQ DVD to IPOD software which brakes the lock on the movies and saves it onto your computer in MP4 format, which is supported as a video format by the ipod video and the PSP. if its not a movies, save all the files somehwere on your computer... then take out the cd and go to my computer and click on the cd/dvd drive to open it. you will see a black folder in which you should drag all the files that you would liek to burn on the blank cd/dvd. THen on the left hand side it says like "burn files to a cd/dvd" or sumtin like that (on the left hand side on the information bar or whatever its called). this will only work on windows xp...

assuming you have dvd software - like Roxio or Cyberlink DVD or the XP Plus media pack - and the DVD doesn't have copy protection on it - The software will copy the DVD contents to a temporay location on your hard drive and then write it to a blank DVD. So - make sure you have lots of hard drive space. A conventional DVD holds about 4.75 GIGS of data. I'd also want at least 7 Gigs of space to allow for buffering and overhead.I'd defrag my hard drive first to make the process faster. Don't run any other programs during the process and turn off the screen saver. Make sure you are using A/C power and not the battery because this will take lots of time and system resources. Good Luck

If you have XP, XP Pro will support DVD burning using drag and drop to discs. Thats where you have to actually look for the disc contents and copy the contents to the Hard Drive, then copy it back.
However, thats annoying if you just want to just copy. I never recommend Nero if you want an easy burn unless your DVD burner specifically says it must use Nero. Roxio 4 and up has been the best in my experience. You just click on Copy, the software detects ( in most cases) the one disc unit only, and it will copy the material to the hard-drive, and should only prompt you to insert a DVD blank, or write-able disc format.
Actually there some free copiers around, but the best freebies are the codecs software that helps you copy some discs.

First you put in the dvd you want to burn. Than you start the program to burn and it is going to basically copy the dvd. Next the program should eject the dvd when it is done copying it or prompt you to eject the dvd and place in a blank one. You put a blank one in and shut the drive. The program will either start automatically once the drawer is shut or you'll have to hit a button.

The software will copy the disc to your hard drive, then prompt you to put in a blank disk. It then copies from the HDD to the blank disk. This will work fine for CD's, but you'll need some additional software to compress movies enough to put them on a standard DVD.

You have to save the dvd to your hard drive first, and then put the blank disk in the drive and copy it to the disk.

You dvd writer should have be able to accomplish this.

Copy the dvd to your computer, then remove the disk and then copy to a new disk. If you right click on the program you just saved, send to 'D' or where ever your blank disk is. Copy. or Save or what ever your program tells you to do.

You have to store the original DVD contents onto your Hard Disk Drive, then insert a blank DVD to copy.

Most computers come with HDDs of 80GB or more, that is usually enough to staore a full DVD without problem.

Your DVD burning software should have a "Copy DVD" option. If you choose this option it will make an image of the DVD on your hard drive and prompt you to insert the blank disc when it is ready to burn the image.
