Fast CPU, 2GB RAM, fast hard drive and fast video card with lots of memory.
You want a dual core processor, at least 2.5Ghz.
2GB memory
7200 rpm hard drive.
Nice Nvidia 7xxx Go video card with 256MB video memory.
This would be a true desktop replacement. This will cost you over $2000. It just depends how much you will be using the laptop. For me, I only use my laptop when I am traveling, so I settled for a $1500 laptop. Also, if you are short on cash, you can always upgrade the hard drive and RAM in the future. That is what I did.

let's be more specific.
Fast means a dual core 2 processor t5500 or higher, 7200 rpm hard drive, 2 gigs of ram and a separate video processor
