They will take one unit, which is about 500ml or one pint. Your blood type is a description of the antigets (the proteins that our bodies can recognize) on the blood. There are two systems ABO and Rh factor. The fact that you are blood type O means that you have no antigens from the ABO group, but Rh positive means your blood has the Rh antigen. That means that anyone who is Rh positive, regardless of whether they are A, B, AB, or O, can get your blood, but that it could cause a dangerous reaction in anyone who is Rh negative.

1 pint. I just needed 4 transfusions myself and the nurse informed me each bag was equivalent to one pint and each bag came from one donor. The RH factor has to do with compatibility. I am RH- which means if I receive blood from someone who is RH positive my antiboides will attack the properties in the RH blood. Also because I am RH negative and female when I am pregnant I have to get a special shot because my husband is RH positive and there is a chance that my unborn child could be RH positive, without that shot my antibodies could attack my unborn child. I also need to get one right after delivery as well in case any blood between me and my unborn child owuld be mixed. There is a medical name for the RH it is short for something but I forgte what that medical term is. Basically though that is why it's important to know your RH factor.

its about a pint of blood, and your blood type is O and it has RH factors meaning that there are protiens on the surface of your red blood cells that give it this property, it means you can only give blood to people whos blood has the RH factor as well. and O means it lacks protiens for identification of foriegn blood so it is a universal donor because everyone can take it. people who can recieve your blood have A+ B+ AB+ and O+ blood.

They take a pint each time.
As for what your blood group means, its a really complicated subject, but basically it means you have O blood cells and A and B antibodies in the plasma. It won't really mean anything to you but it means you can only accept blood thats the same type as yours or O neg which is a universal Donor.
If you're really interested then try looking it up on the net.
