It refers to anything that you can get legally drunk on if consumed in excess (you can't drink it at work at all).

If the policy was written by someone with a brain, it's not, "No Drinking on the Job", it's "No Alcohol Consumption on the Job."

However you should interpret that as meaning NO ALCOHOL AT ALL. The form -- beer, wine, liquor, mouthwash, etc. -- has no bearing on the issue. Six beers = six shots = six glasses of wine as far as the alcohol volume is concerned.

The form might affect the hangover (red wines KILL me) but your BAT will be the same whatever you drink.

From a legal perspective, your company's policy is general. If it was suspected that you had consumed a beverage with an alcoholic content, then you would be tested and pending on the results, possibly fired. However, the results of drinking a soda or a drink from the water fountain during work would be less consequential if at all.

You didn't mention what work setting. You see, I went for a job orientation one time and one of their policy is "no drinking on the job" too. No liquid of any sort inside the work place. You hit the washroom on your break time. No rings on fingers. No earrings. Reason I got my pay for the tour and I didn't bother to show up the next day to work. Mind you my phone was ringing off the hook the next day.

What I'm saying is depending on what job we're talking about.

That would mean "No alcohol" of any kind, at all. Wait until you're off work. If you can't, congratulations! You're an alcoholic.

Oh YES, you are.

When alcohol becomes more important than keeping the job or the relationship or any other normal healthy adult thing, you ARE an alcoholic.

It means that you cannot consume alcohol during work, including on your lunch time.

If you are that obesssed with drinking that you need to drink during work you should be attending Alcohol Annonomous meetings.
