I am 25 and I can't walk in high heals. I can walk ok in shorter thick heals, but sometimes I feel clumsy. I also noticed that if it has more support for my foot, or a strap to wrap around my foot it's easier. I have not mastered the thin heal. How do people do it? How would you practice? Would height and weight matter? I am 5'7 170, would it be easier for a petite girl? Or does that not matter?
Please give me some tips.....

I know some dancers that wear high heels and they say that they got good at dancing in them by doing housework (especially work like vacuuming) in them. Just a little bit of practice every day will build up the muscles and help with the coordination.

Ok, i'm almost 16 and i have always been able to walk, dance, cartweel, and run in high heels. I'm 5'5 and weigh 130. So, i don't think that height and weight matters too much, especially since heavier people than you can walk in high heeIs. I think balance is key. I'm a dancer so i have great balance and great ankle and calf strength. So, to get better i'd say to take some ballet classes or do some exercises to increase ankle and calf strength(self magazine). Practice walking on the balls of your feet(so that your toes are flat but the maiddle of your foot is off the floor). Practice walking like this up and down the steps but not after you have mastered this on flat grounds. This works great and if you can do this you will be able 2 walk in any size heel and even in skinny heels. Good Luck i know u can be turned into a master of walking in high heels. You'll look so sexy once you get the walk down.

I think it may be easier to balance your weight more on the heels if you are thinner. It is easier to walk in heels if there is back support otherwise I get blisters. I just don't rush my steps, and like someone said earlier, heel toe heel toe...etc. It's a little bit different than walking in tennis shoes, but I think it's fun to wear heels. If you're not good at walking in heels, don't get the 8" heel, get the kitten heels (approx. 2" off the ground). They will be easier to walk in, and they're still cute. If you like the big heels though, just start wearing them more often. Practice makes perfect.

Heel, toe, heel toe is correct. Do not wear nylons or put foot lotion on before putting on heels, you'll just slip around in the shoe. Keep your knees and your toes relaxed and limber, and the balancing should get easier. Stand up straight, don't "grasp" the end of the shoe with your toes. There are gel pads you can buy to cushion the balls of the foot, they're good. It matters not one ounce how tall you are. Try not to practice on carpet.

Try standing totally straight with shoulders back and chest out first and then you have your balance try walking with your hips pushed forward. This stops you sticking your bottom and pitching forward out which lots of women seem to do in heels. Aim to land on the ball of your foot. Also only buy high heels that fit and aren't too uncomfy in the shop. Try a kitten heel and walk around practising and watch yourself in the mirror till you are confident. Good luck.

Okay, you are comfy in thicker, lower heeled shoes. Find a pair that is just a little higher and thinner heel. Get comfy in those and then progressively find higher and thinner heels until you have mastered the shoes you want to wear. Be advised though that even women who wear the thin high heels regularly still stumble sometimes. It might be good to wear them in a situation where you won't have to stand or walk much (have a desk job?) or where you will only wear them for a short time. This helps to get used to them also. Good luck. (I don't think height or weight have much, if anything, to do with it.)

Practice, practice, practice! Wear them around the house (especially on carpet at first) to get used to them. Make sure that your posture is good - keep your back straight and avoid bending forward.

When I wear high heels, I pretty much walk on tip-toe. I don't put much weight on the heel at all unless I'm standing still.

I don't think it's necessarily easier for petite girls; I'm 5'6 and about 200 lbs, and I can wear high heels just fine.

Well it is funny you ask if petite girls are better at it, I do not think they are I and 5'6 and 170 and i do just fine in them, start with a short chuncky ones just little pumps, and the gradually go up sometimes when I am trying a new heal I walk around the house with them on. Before you buy them walk around the stroe with them on for a little while and get the feel of them it is possible it just takes time.

The best thing I can think is to aim to put most of the pressure where you have the support--usually the ball of your foot.
And some people just can't wear something that doesn'thave a backstrap or support around the heel. If that is consistently your case, don't feel bad, there are plenty of very cute styles of high heels that are more supportive.

at the start, it somewhat is extreme HEELS. Heal could be to scientific care something. besides, there is not probably an attractive thank you to stroll in heels, you basically would desire to be advantageous. the final thank you to get your walk down is to prepare. the place them around the homestead, to college/artwork, everywhere. walk such as you may once you're actually not wearing heels. perhaps start up with a decrease heel and artwork up the top of the heels.
