I hurt my pinky yesterday (and of course on my right hand) it is swollen a bit and extremely sore to move it. I can move it alittle bit but is very sore. Do you think it is broken or strained? What can I do??

Thanks and Happy New Year :)

it's probably sprained...if it were broken it would be black and blue all over..what you can do it buddy tape it...(tape it to the finger right next to it) to reduce movement and provide support or you can straighten out your pinkie and tape it popiscle stick and that will prevent you from moving it altogether...you also need to ice the finger for the next few days to reduce swelling...there is nothing more you can really do for a sprained or broken finger

Are you bruised? If you are bruised chances are it's broken. Reguardless of the injury, remember this acronym RICE. Rest Ice Compression Elevation. Keep your hand iced down. Rest. Elevate it. Take a towel and put it over your hand. Then put an ice pack over the towel. Then wrap an ace bandage around the icepack and your hand- not too tightly though. Be sure to keep it propped up (above your heart). If your condition worsens, or does not improve within the next day or so, see a doctor.

Ice it down and elevate your arm a little. Sprained and broken seem a lot alike for the first few days.
