If you have little responsibilities in life do employers look at this as a negative to not hire you or to not give you a promotion?

I think it depends on the kind of job. For certain kinds of jobs (banker, police and real estate sales are a couple), employers like to see ties in a community and get the sense that a person is mature and responsible. Other jobs (store clerk, construction and mechanic), employers either need a body or are looking for a specific skill. If you can fix brakes and replace shocks, you can get a job almost anywhere, regardless of your demonstrated community ties.

Mostly, employers want good employees who show up to work on time and ready to work. They want people who work well with others, do their jobs and don't cause trouble. If you can do this, employers will hire and promote you.
