So which is it -- do you get paid by direct deposit or do you get paid by a check received in the mail.

Either way, maybe the best thing to do is adjust your mindset as to when your "payday" is.

I'm an independent contractor and I get paid by mail myself. Paydays are supposed to be the 5th and 20th of each month, yet I don't receive the checks usually until the 10th and 25th. All I started doing was considering the 10th and 25th to actually be paydays and by doing that, I never think of my checks as being late!
