It hurts a bit, but the pain is temporary. When you get it pierced, your eye on that side will probably tear up, but not out of pain. It was actually one of the least painful piercings that I've gotten, and healed pretty quickly. It is most common to see a nose piercing on Indian women, who get the left nostril pierced (I'm pretty sure it signifies a hope for painless childbirth).

I've had mine for years and the hole hasn't gotten any bigger. I wear a tiny gem in it, and have mine done in the right nostril, which is a bit unusual. Most people who have their nose pierced wear something called a nose screw, where the part inside is just coiled flat against the inside of your nostril, so it doesn't poke you or anything. I blow my nose just the same as I did before I got it. I don't think it's annoying at all, except when I'm getting over from a cold and have boogers - then I confess I do have to pick around the jewelery, but it isn't that bad.

I hope this helped!
