I've never heard the term "placental displacement" used, but I think maybe the tech meant "placenta previa"??? If this is what she was referring to, this means that the placenta is located near the opening of the cervix. If this was detected early in the pregnancy, there is a chance that as the uterus grows, the placenta will still move "up" and away from the cervical opening. However, if the placenta continues to block the cervical opening (which is where the baby should come out), this may mean that it will be necessary for you to deliver by caesarean section.

You should clarify with your obstetrician.

This is really something you just need to ask your doctor about.

People can guess on here, but if the tech said "displacement" you can't guess "maybe praevia".

There's a chance he/she was referring to something the placenta was doing to the fluid. As you know, "displacement" is what happens when you put something in fluid and the fluid is moved.
Displaced workers, though, are people who have lost their jobs and are now in need of new jobs or careers; so "displaced" isn't always related to fluid.

Maybe someone who has dealt with this themselves (the people you were hoping would answer) will answer. In the meantime, I wouldn't have even answered but I saw the guessing and decided to answer.

You should call your doctor and ask him/her to explain.

The most likely explanation is placenta previa, which is very common. And since your doctor didn't call you and the tech didn't say anything else, it's probably just a low-lying placenta or partial previa--both conditions usually correct themselves and require no special treatment or behavior on your part.

But you should know for sure, and only your doctor can tell you.

I wouldn't have answered either, but I had to point out that people are always "guessing" on Yahoo answers!

The "guesses" sound pretty educated to me. And, they all made it a point to say that the asker should check with her doctor about the situation... which is really the best thing (the only thing!) to do when it comes to medical questions!
