What war? The government has over 50% of the population on probation and testing. Do you realize how much Revenue that brings into State Government? Government and Courts are run by Revenue, not justice. Further more, I have known ex drug makers years ago, that where approached by the ATF, to buy their supplies from them, or they would be busted. That should tell you something right there.

US prisons are privately owned, the owners are winning. Their companies are traded on the stock exchange and their values are based on number of inmates housed. The US has 5 % of the worlds population, and 25% of the worlds prison population. Is it any wonder? If you look at virtually all the more tollerant criminal systems in the world, you can find no link between our policies and lower rates of drug users. Someone somewhere would lose way too much money if we reformed. Think of all the houses the government gets to sease, all the cars, cash, boats, planes, whatever... Its worth too much. Ever heard of CIA drug traffickers? Look it up.

I didn't know it was over............
You see people, all of the time, being caught for having drugs or selling drugs - so the war is far from over.
First of all, you must stop the source - once that has been accomplished then the end will be within spitting distance.

The dealers seem to be winning. As long as drugs are illegal, they will be collecting their huge profits. The American insurgency, led by the DEA, throws out a little terror now and then, but they are being overwhelmed by sheer numbers and technology equal to their own. This will be a fight to the death with neither side considering surrender.

As long as you can still buy drugs on street corners then the drug dealers won. It is a war we need to admit defeat on and legalize them.

Nobody won it...everyone's a loser.
Don't always agree with the libertarians on everything, but they're right about drugs.
