I was told to limit my caffeine intake so drink sodas that are caffeine free like sprite and diet stuff. Limit your intake of caffeine to about 300mg per day so 1 8oz of coffee.

What Not to Eat
It's important to know which foods are safe to eat and which you need to avoid while pregnant. Eat a safe pregnancy diet, and learn about safe food storage and handling by following these tips from the Clemson University Agricultural Extension.

Don't eat:
Raw meat such as sushi, seafood, or rare/undercooked beef or poultry, because of the risk of contamination with coliform bacteria, toxoplasmosis, and salmonella.

Raw eggs, or foods containing raw egg, such as Caesar dressing, mayonnaise, homemade ice cream or custard, unpasteurized eggnog, or Hollandaise sauce, because raw eggs may be contaminated with salmonella.

Soft cheese such as blue cheese, feta, Brie, Camembert, and Latin-American soft white cheeses such as queso blanco and queso fresco, because they may harbor harmful bacteria.

Fish containing accumulated levels of mercury in their fatty tissues such as shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish. When a pregnant woman consumes large amounts of mercury, her baby may suffer brain damage resulting in developmental delays (for example, delays in learning to walk or talk).

Fish containing high levels of an industrial pollutant called polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in their fatty tissues such as bluefish and striped bass, and freshwater fish such as salmon, pike, trout, and walleye from contaminated lakes and rivers. According to the March of Dimes, consumption of large amounts of PCBs by pregnant women is linked to decreased attention, memory, and IQ in their babies. Check with your local Health Department to determine which fish in your area are safe to eat

An occasional soda isn't bad. But soda is empty calories--little nutritional value--so you don't want to drink too much of it. Also, it has caffeine, which some people try to avoid, and it makes you have to pee more than you already do. :)

In moderation, soda is fine.

Other stuff: no raw fish or unpasteurized cheeses. Some people avoid all deli meats and cheeses to stay away from listeria. If you have a cat, don't change the litter box. No drinking, smoking, or drugs. That's the short list!

Well, there are the obvious things not to do like smoke, drink alcohol, or take drugs.

Soda is fine as long as there is no caffeine. I was told to limit my caffeine drinks to 1 per day.

Also, no ibuprofen. Just Tylenol, and use according to the bottle instructions (there are those who like to take 3-4 tablets at a time). This was killer for me since I had some really bad headaches.

Caffeine is an iron blocker.

Get the book "What to Expect, While You Are Expecting" it is great and will explain everything. Look in the cover and make sure it is a recent copy so it will have the most up to date information. The author has another book about eating healthy when you are expecting, which also has great information.

too much caffeine isnt good for the baby. I was told to limit myself to no more than 2 (12oz) a day. There are a lot of things to NOT DO when you are pregnant. Get the book what to expect when you are expecting or ask your doctor some of the biggest no-no's. Good Luck

it's not a good idea to drink anything with caffiene..a lot anyway. i'm reading the book "what to expect when you're expecting", it says there, that drinking two or more cups of coffee a day while you are pregnant can significantly increase your chances of miscarrying, and/or interrupt proper developing of the fetus. caffiene is very strong, be it in soda, coffee, tea. try to drink more juices and milks.
