Of straight orientation, but showing a stereotypically "gay" (whatever that is) fastidiousness and attention to detail in dress and grooming.

It's an idiotic kitschy phrase used to categorize people.
However, definition:
Metrosexuality is, according to British journalist Mark Simpson, the trait of an urban man of any sexual orientation (usually heterosexual) who has a strong aesthetic sense and spends a great amount of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle. Simpson coined the term in 1994 in an article in the The Independent [1] after writing his book about contemporary masculine identity Male Impersonators: Men Performing Masculinity. Simpson described the effect of consumerism and media proliferation, particularly the men’s style press, on traditional masculinity. Metrosexuals often can be seen sporting the latest in men's fashion. Hetero metrosexuals, though known to be heterosexual have what's known as a "camp" factor about them; in general slang terms, they are "camp but straight."

It always pertains to men, and NOT women (for some reason).
It's a male who:
-Dresses in expensive, top-of-the-line clothing.
-Goes to a full-out salon to get his hair styled.
-Gets a weekly manicure.
-Keeps his house VERY tidy and stylish at the same time.
-Focuses 100% of his attention on his all-around appearance.
In a way, all of those things are good for a person to do, but it's super wierd when a man, who's supposed to be rugged, is sitting down at a salon getting french tips painted on the ends of his nails.
If you ask me, Metrosexuals are just gay men who don't want to admit it.

My definition is someone who takes a huge amount of there life pampering their self. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But cmon I wouldn't date a man that has more paraffin wax appointments than I do....lol. Usually refers to a man that is very into his grooming which involves waxing, tweezing, manis, pedis, and facials.
