Make sure:
1. Baby isn't hungry.
2. Baby's diaper is dry.
3. Baby isn't too warm or too cold.
4. Make sure nothing is poking the baby. Snaps, velcro.
Depending on the age of the baby, try swaddling. (You really shouldn't swaddle a baby over the age of four months, but you won't do any damage.)
My youngest had colic. The only thing that helped her was to swaddle her and carry her with her tummy on our arms instead of her back.
You can also lay the baby down on her back. Gently "bicycle" her legs. If you have gas drops, give some of that.

First off, big hugggs for you. It can be very hard to deal with a crying baby.
Unfortunately there is no 100% answer to this question. Fortunately there are lots of things you can try.
First try all the obvious things. Is baby hungry or wet, hot or cold? Some babies are very sensitive to having a dirty diaper, even if it's just a tiny bit wet it can freak them out.
Try rocking the baby - try it in a rocking chair, standing up & rocking back & forth or standing up and rocking side to side - not working, try it with baby in a different position. Try putting baby in a bouncey chair. If baby is newborn or doesn't like the vibration of the chair when it's turned on try turning it off; try bouncing it slowly and gently with your hand or foot.
If baby is newborn try swaddling. Basically you just wrap the baby so it's arms and legs aren't free to flail around. Newborns feel very vulnerable when their limbs are free to move around a lot - it's a new experience for them.
Try to get baby to burp. Gas bubbles are horribly painful. I've had one and if I hadn't had a grownup vocabulary I'd have screamed too. There are gas drops that you can use for baby. Just make sure that after you give the gas meds that you get baby to burp.
Try taking baby outside. Sometimes a change of scenery helps.
Try the TV. There are lots of good kids shows on and both of mine loved stuff like Bob the Builder, the Baby Einstein videos and Sesame Street since they were newborns. Remember though that the TV is not a babysitter so use it sparingly.
You can try taking baby for a ride in the car. That works with lots of little ones.
You can try singing to the baby or telling the baby a story. It doesn't really matter all that much what you're saying as long as you're using a loving tone so don't worry if your singing voice isn't pretty or that your story isn't good enough.
If all that fails you may want to check with your doctor. Odds are that baby is just grumping but better to be safe than sorry.
Remember that if baby's crying gets to be too much for you - you can always put baby in the crib or playpen and step outside for a few minutes.

TIME and patience!
If your baby is crying it could be due to factors such as:
1. Colic
2. Allergies
3. Discomfort
4. Temperament
5. Environment (temperature or adults arguing)
6. Attention
2 of my children were "screamers" and it was later discovered the screaming was due to severe milk allergies. Formula and other dietary changes are in order if that is your babies case.
Babies learn what they live, if they are in a hostile or exciting environment, they react in a similar manner.
Babies also get spoiled rather easily if they are picked up or carried constantly. My suggestion is to gain insight on this matter through reading or your physician. Mommies need "me time" too!
You also a support system, family or friends who can give you a much needed break and rest! You sound like you are tired!

I find that if you run a vacumm cleaner that seems to put baby's out like you would'nt believe they say it mimicks when they were inside the belly..
Also a great one is Classical music try it turn it up pretty loud a see what happens...
Another thing that could help her / him is a nice warm bath time with Johnson's lavender products.
The lavender is specifically for sleep ....
Also mommy try and relax yourself a baby can sense when people are tense and upset.... so what ever you try please relax take deep air and blow out threw your mouth... good luck

Try using a baby sling and moving around with her( or him). Singing is also calming. If nothing else helps, call the doc., she could have colic or some digestive reflux issue (as with my little one)
