...but rather that your existence is to enter and depart from different people's lives for specific purposes? Kind of along the lines of "A reason - a season - a lifetime" theory but missing the lifetime from the mix?

as many reasonably insightful humans realize, we are all very different one from another. while some enjoy a lifelong "marriage type arrangement", for some serial monogamy, more or less, is more suitable. given a certain depth of "wisdom, experience and maturity" people realize that when "their time together" is over, it's best to move on without the usual daytime drama and recriminations. beyond this, numerous folks maintain, simultaneously, a number of relationships, some "romantic", others not. the "rules" made by society are for the benefit of society, not the humans involved. societies/cultures have a life of their own. and, like many "living" people, are concerned with power and control over those with whom it is involved. some people are wise enough to, quietly, live their own life, within the law, so to speak, but otherwise, based on their own guidelines. btw, astrologically speaking, venus in gemini is not apt to be happy with one "partner" for life, eh? ;-) is that you? because that's me ;-)))))

You bet. I don't think it's in the cards for me which is okay because so far I haven't found anyone I can stand for a whole lifetime. A lot of people are in the same situation. However I do have lots of friends and acquaintances, some that come and go, and others that have been in my life since childhood.

I used to. Then I met who I'm with now. There's no doubt that all the other relationships I was in, ones that seemed to be great at the time, were just teasers bringing me to (I hate to use to use the term but lets face it...) the one.

On another note however, there are many animals out there that mate of life and many that don't. Religion and society tell us that people should but what does nature have to say about that. If we were made to mate for life, why did we create Divorce?

Yes. I envy those that have been married for 30, 40, 50 years or more. More power to them!
