Clarks are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life--I own a closet full of them. I wore them after foot surgery. They are expensive, but if you find them at Dillard's or Macy's at the end of the season, then you get a really good deal, but they are worth every penny that you pay for them up front. Most of them are clogs, although they are making closed-toed shoes.

Birkenstocks, or you can always get some at American Eagle Outfitters. Theirs are comfy and come in a variety of fabrics (corduroy, wool, etc).
