I hate having my blood taken due to a bad experience when I was a child. You won't convince me that it doesn't hurt. But due to the fact that you can't flinch once the needles in(thats where the bad experience comes in, cause thats what I did) I opt to have blood taken from my wrist. I lay down, don't look and hold my fingers tight on the hand that the blood is being withdrawn from. From someone who is phobic about have my blood taken, this is a good way for me to have it done. Best of luck.

Ok, that WILL sound weird.. But I actually like talking blood. There was this time in my life, I had to take blood exams really often due to health problems.. And I hated it.. So, the woman made the thing that took the blood, a butterfly.. And you could se the buttlerfly taking the blood and you´d see the blood going from your arm to the bag.. I was 6 or 7 at the time. So, last year i had to take blood(I was 17). And I went there to see a needle and a bag... I seriously freaked out.. My mom told me not to look.. I just asked the woman "Do you have the butterfly?" (butterflies are for kids only).. She gave me a weird look and put me a butterfly.. My point is: I feel way more comfortable seeing the blood coming out... it might help you.. And looking at it keeps you distracted from the pain.. Ok, I am a bit nuts..But it does work for me! :D

All of the above. :)

Also, not to scare you at all, but if you're at all apprehensive, MENTION IT to the person who will be taking your blood. I've had some horrible experiences (they were rushing, couldn't find the vein, etc.) and have heard other stories from friends of mine who have to take blood as part of their jobs. They strongly suggest speaking up so that the person doing it is aware that you're nervous, and won't stick you (no pun intended) with someone who won't exactly be sensitivie (again, no pun) about it.

Good luck! It's really not that bad. Some people, most I think, never even feel it. Just a small pinch for a second. You won't feel the blood going anywhere.

I hope your not queasy! The best thing you can do is to look away from where the blood is being drawn, which is usually the arm. It is fast and will be over quick. Don't worry though, it doesn't hurt! The only thing that is bad is seeing the blood so don't look! Oh, and no you can't feel the blood coming out.

1 - Drink lots of water so that your blood comes out easier. This also makes your veins a little bigger and easier to poke.

2 - Make sure that the alcohol has dried completely before the hematologist begins. It will sting less.

3 - Don't flinch when he/she pokes you. Deep breaths.

4 - Lastly, ask the hematologist to try your dominate arm first. The veins tend to be slightly larger.

Good luck and don't panic!

Naw it doesnt hurt, just do not move after they poke you. They will draw the blood right in the bend on ur arm.. the other side of your elbow, it doesnt hurt, it does kinda feel cold (Very cool feeling lol) But no worries you will do fine!
