Was it to end the genocide trial that would point to the US and it's involvement in supplying illegal WMD to Iraq that were used on the Kurds??

Ok.
We had nothing to do with the hanging schedule we were legally requested to turn him over to the Iraqi gvernerment.
If we had not that would have been contempt of court.

I want to make two points: "murder" is the ILLEGAL killing of another human being. I'm not sure which country's laws were in effect during Hussein's trial, but his conviction and execution were in line with the law.

Next point, I've read (here on YA) that the hanging was the sentence imposed by the Iraqis. He was in US custody, but the sentence and execution were the responsibility of the Iraqis.

About the WMD, I don't think anyone will ever know the truth behind this flimsy facade. Perhaps my great-grandchildren...

Um, we didn't murder him. Under our law not only would he have had an immediate appeal, he would've had many years left to wait out numerous appeals. And he would've been given lethal injection. Hanging has been outlawed here for a while. It is my understanding that per Iraqi law, death penalties must be completed within 30 days of the actual sentence. They weren't waiting a few days due to the Eid Holiday, but why the wouldn't wait a week or two - I have no idea. It was my understanding that Eid only lasted 4 days.

The American forces which held Saddam kept him FROM being murdered until the Iraqi courts executed their judgement.

We could learn much from their judicial system. Once sentenced to death, a convict should get a rapid appeal and if still found guilty, execution of the sentence should be immediate.

I do not know why people keep thinking that it was the AMERICANS that chose the execution date of Saddam Hussein.

The only participation that America had for Saddam Hussein was to hold him in a camp near the Baghdad airport before, during and after the trial.

The trial itself, the punishment if found guilty, and the carrying out of that punishment was ALL decided by the Iraqi Tribunal Court.

The decision for execution on his first trial pretty much made a 'moot point' of carrying out the second trial, wouldn't you think?

Also, there were people who rejoiced at his sentence and there were those who still supported him that were angered at the sentence of death, and of course wished to point at the U.S. for everything.

The faster the sentencing was carried out, the less chance there would be for the opposition to carry out additional acts of violence in retribution.

Where is your proof that the US provided Saddam with WMD's? I was in the first Gulf War and everything I saw down to rifle bullets was made in the USSR or Red China. They did have old American Hawk anti-aircraft missiles provided by France. But hey let's not let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory.

Saddam was tried by an Iraqi court for crimes against Iraqi citizens and executed by Iraqi executioners in an Iraqi prison. The final decision was made to execute him by the Iraqi government. What part of this do you have trouble understanding???

First off, your mistaken, The U.S. didn't choose the date, and second he was executed according to the IRAQI judge's Judgment, he was not murdered, there is a big difference here. Murder is what he did to all those people, not what happened to him. What he got was nothing compared to what he gave. He was not tortured, he was not beat, he was hung, that is more humility than he showed his victims.

♥ Saddam is sure popular today in the boards lol just joking. I don't know why they picked yesterday to hang him. If they wanted him dead why didn't they do it a long time ago.

The Iraqi judicial system chose the date. The Americans had no say in the matter.
